May 7 Austin,TX

Short drive through Fredricksburg wine country, we made it to our last city, Austin, Texas.

We are staying at the beautiful and historic Driskill Hotel. Built it 1886 by Jessie Driskill, a cattleman. It is the oldest hotel in Austin.

As soon as we walked out, we encountered the Sunday Street Fair with art, music and food.

We ended up at Eddie V’s for dinner. It is the same restaurant as in our first road trip in Chicago. Amazing oysters and sea bass.

A nightcap at the Driskill bar.

Tomorrow is our last day and we will take full advantage of Austin and it’s surroundings.

May 6 Carlsbad to Fredericksburg

We started the day with a 3,5 miles underground morning walk. 250 m below surface found on 1898.

Mother Nature’s underground Art Museum

After a six hours ride we reached Fredericksburg TX. After checking in at the Peach-Tree-Inn we found some food and live music…

May 5 Abiquiu to Carlsbad

We left Santa Fe this morning heading to Abiquiu for our tour of Georgia O‘Keeffe‘s unique house where she lived and worked for more than 40 years.

Living room with skylight windows
Her workshop with a view
Her collection of natural finds such as stones, feathers, shells and wood pieces
Her beautiful garden shows her love for trees, plants and vegetables

After enjoying this magical place we drove 8 hours to Carlsbad for tomorrow’s visit to Carlsbad-Cavern-Nationalpark.
