Vancouver Island May 22

After enjoying our last Breakfast at Pike Place Market we left Seattle and Caro drove us safely through Olympic National Park. A beautiful scenic drive through forests and colorful spring flower meadows. In Port Angeles we had a nice seafood lunch at the waterfront before we went on the ferry crossing Juan de Fuca Strait to Victoria on Vancouver Island.

Bye bye US!
Hello Canada!
Some live music with a night cap at:

And making new friends! Texas originally from Louisiana. We loved her nails!

Seattle May 21

After a nice morning walk through Pike Place Market and Breakfast among Fishermen and Vegetable Farmers we meandered through Belltown neighborhood.

The weather wasn’t that pleasant. After a 20 minute walk in the drissling rain (typical Seattle) we decided to visit Dale Chihuly’s Museum and Glass-Garden. Chihuly is a Son of Washington State, born in Tacoma and a famous Glass Artist.

After the magical experience of Chihuly’s Glass world we walked over to “The Needle”, Seattle’s famous landmark built in 1961 for the World exhibition.

Dinner at Metropolitan Grill with beautifully fresh Oysters and Caro’s favorite Carrot Cake!

Night cap at “The Bathtub Gin & Co.” a really cool speakeasy Bar. You would have loved it, Joe!!!

Last night at the Palihotel with historical and political books to browse through.

The next day we made our way to Port Angeles to leave the US and enter Canada through Vancouver Island.

Portland-Seattle May 20

After a morning walk through the town of Portland we headed to Mount St.Helens Volcano National Park for a short hike to the foot of the Volcano. We crossed people coming back from skiing! Pretty tough to hike up there and ski down in heavy, slushy snow at this time of the year…

Short hike but steep and exhausting!

We drove through beautiful forests and tiny villages, still passing by enormous Rhododendron bushes. Arrived in Seattle at dinner time and checked into the “Crab Pot” for some delicious oysters, shrimps and a glass of crispy white wine. Thanks, Tracey, for sharing this recommendation!!!
