May 2nd Santa Fe,New Mexico

We left the “Garden of the Gods” after a healthy breakfast towards NM on a sunny morning. First stop was “Pueblo”, one of the largest steel-producing cities in the US situated at the confluence of the Arkansas River and Fountain Creek.

Historical industry buildings, steel mills, warehouses converted to clubs, restaurants and shops.
@Patty: did you know??
The historic railroad station.
Evidence of another thriving economy in the late 19th century in Pueblo…

Capulin Volcano

We drove on and crossed into New Mexico following the Santa Fe trail with dramatic weather changes. Our second stop was Capulin Volcano near Raton. We drove up to the rim and walked down to the crater. Capulin Vulcano which was active 600,000 and sits at over 8,000ft / 2400m.

Nightlife in Santa Fe

We made it into Santa Fe just in time for good margaritas and a walk through town before dinner. After dinner, we stopped at a local bar with live music. It was a jam session where anyone could play. Evangelo’s has been around since the 70s, owned by a Greek immigrant who fought in WW2 and became famous with the below picture taken by Eugene Smith.
