8 hours to Denver

We set off early in Jackson Hole with clear blue skies and the Grand Tetons waving goodbye and Willy Nelson sings “On the road again”.

We crossed into Shoshone National Park passed by the painted hills and made a brief pitstop in Wind River Reservation. We found some beautiful souvenirs. Majo was eager for a second cup of coffee and we found the best one in Lander that even had the same expresso machine she so loves.

Lunch stop finally came in Rawlins where we found the local bar. I finally tried the famous American Sloppy Joe sandwich. πŸ™‚

6 hour drive and we made it in Colorado. You immediately see the landscape change but the beauty keeps coming. We made it to Denver at 630pm just in time for cocktails.

We found the most amazing restaurant called Mizuna, where we were greeted by a glass of champagne followed by amazing cocktails! We ordered a 3 course meal and instead got a 7 course meal as the chef just likes to cook and add to your experience. We had the most amazing ravioli and the dessert wS to die for. As a parting gift, they provided us with chocolate and some muffins for the next day.

Once the check came out, we learned something new. It said 22% CHP. I guessed it was gratuity, but what does CHP stand for? CHANGING HAPPY PEOPLE. 😊 In Colorado, they add the CHP so that the kitchen staff receive recognition for their work.

If you are ever in Denver, we recommend eating at Mizuna and ensure you have enough time as they like for you to enjoy the whole experience.

Today, we explore the historic part of Denver and end the day at Red Rock Amphitheater to see Trevor Hall perform. More to come as Majo has more photos.

Look at this happy face! The desserts at β€œMizuna” are divine!!!

  1. In our country they say: “When angels travel, heaven laughs”.
This also seems to work on the way to Denver.
And the description of the Luculian delights in the Mizuna restaurant has triggered fierce stomach rumbling.
I wish you a great and safe trip and look forward to more stories from you.
    Love from Switzerland,
    Claudia
